What are the recommended procedures for soluble oil systems after shut down?
If you have a period of shutdown, we recommend metalworking fluid users follow the below procedure before production gets underway again.
Our Top Tips for Managing Metalworking Fluid after Shutdown:
- Skim off any tramp oil – this will allow your coolant to breathe
- Circulate the fluid for at least an hour
- Check dilution using a hand refractometer – Aim for the upper of the recommended range – If you’re unsure of the recommended dilution, contact our technical team who can advise
- Top up fluid accordingly
- Check pH level – If you get a low pH reading between 8.2 – 8.5 add Biotect @ 0.20% of sump capacity – pH readings below 8.2, a full system sterilization and fluid change is advised
