Handheld Refractometer 0 – 32% Brix FAQ's
A hand refractometer is used to measure the concentration of water-mix metalworking fluids and coolants. It helps operators maintain the correct coolant strength to improve machining performance and extend sump life.
Simply place a few drops of coolant onto the prism, close the cover and look through the eyepiece to read the scale. The reading is then multiplied by the coolant correction factor to determine the true concentration.
Maintaining the correct coolant concentration helps prevent bacterial growth, poor tool life, corrosion and fluid wastage. Regular testing with a refractometer supports better coolant performance and longer fluid life.
